Detroit casino developer Herb Strather, the financial supporter of the Mashpee Wampanoag Indians, has signed an agreement to purchase 125 acres of land in Middleboro for $1.7 million. Reportedly, the parcels of land could be used to build a casino complex.

Middleboro Selectman Wayne Perkins said he supports the idea of a casino in the city since it will create jobs for the area. Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Chairman Glenn Marshall explained that the tribe had not decided on Middleboro but wanted to take action when the land came up for auction.

A South African online marketing company has announced the launching of the first online casino in South Africa, taking therefore the first step in the development of the online gaming industry in the country.

A Panamanian businessman says that the suspect of a fatal explosion in a Las Vegas Casino has stolen his identity, and the police have recognized that they actually don’t know the real name of the man they have put in jail.

Omar Rueda Denvers, from Panama City, said to the press that he was surprised to see his name in a press note that identified a man who was accused of murder for the explosion caused on May 7th in front of the Hotel-Casino Luxor located in the main street of Las Vegas.

The Punto y Banca Casino in Puerto Madryn, Argentina, reopened its doors after a big remodeling of its facilities. The new casino has been updated to the maximum, and the manager has announced among the new changes a more modern architecture, new game rooms and more machines for users.

The remodeling process started two years ago and a big effort and investment has been made to set it all new.

Workers at Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino will also hold a certification election this month to decide whether they will join the Union or not.
“Atlantic City is a real union town, but the one huge group of workers who were not unionized were the dealers,” Elizabeth Bunn, secretary-treasurer of the national UAW, explained. “The movement is excited about changing that, about bringing dealers in.”

Since its opening last November, the French Lick Resort Casino has registered decreasing numbers of visitors. However, figures seem to be climbing up, as reflected by the more than 125,000 customers recorded in March by the southern Indiana gaming facility.
The French Lick received 156,263 visitors in its first month of operation while 120,000 players went to the casino in December and again in January. February numbers showed 100,584 visitors. Casino authorities said the drop was due to cold winter weather.

The General Administration of Ports and Marine denied, due to the request of the Government Secretary, to the Caliente company, that belongs to Hank Ron, the request to operate a casino boat in the dock of the Ensenada.
Caliente had the intention of operating from the dock, and the access to it would have been through the tourist walker, although the federal authorities declined the permission.
The criteria to get a permission to gamble on boats, are defined in a document where it is explained that casino games are forbidden by Mexican laws, being them cards, roulette or craps.
